Large numbers of Swallow, House Martin and some Sand Martin started passing over my house (Strongstry) around Middday, westerly winds increased with heavy showers, did a rough count of 200+ HM, 100+ Sw and 10+ SM, but they kept coming, went to high ground above Lumb Vale and in varying visibility watched a constant movement south while being pushed west by the wind.
Around 1400 hours, and very wet, I picked out at least 7 Swifts high up with the Martins and Swallows, no idea of final count but certainly a lot of Birds.
