Have visited Last week and highlights were

1 Common Sandpiper on 31st August - must have been stopping off at Holden Wood Reservoir
1 Hobby over with kestrels on 31st August
1 possible Honey Buzzard circled high drifted south - it will remain justa possible
3 Song Thrush on 31st August
1 Oystercatcher on 3rd of Septembr flying over
approx 15 House Sparrow present at start of late opposite Holden Arms
2 Common Gulls on 3rd Sept
Pheasant calling 3rd Sept

 

Todays sightings with Craggy


1 Redpoll
1 Kingfisher
1 Grey Heron
nin 10 Juvenile Herring Gull
min 2 immature Lesser Black Backed Gulls
min 30 Starlings
min 50 Meadow Pipits  - many heading south
min 30 Pied/Wagtails - at least 10 White Wagtails
3 Blackbirds
1 Linnet
1 Bullfinch
4 Reed Bunting
min 3 Long Tailed Tits
1 Kestrel
2 Robin
min 5 Blue tit
1 Wren
min 30 Swallows
min 20 House Martins


Stonefold:-


min 4 Buzzards..maybe 5 if the attachd photo is not a Red-Tailed Hawk
1-2 Kestrels
approx 10 Pied Wagtails
2 Linnet
1 Bullfinch calling past Sherfin animal foods
1 Grey Heron
min 80 Starling
min 60 Goldfinch
min 50 Swallows     
min 20 House Martins
1 Grey Wagtail
min 50 Madow Pipits - many heading South
6 Common Gulls in field
2 Whinchat - adult male and female
min 9 Stonechat - adult males, females, immatures ...Whinchats associationg with them
5 Reed Bunting min - 1 adult male and some juveniles
stock Dovs and Woodpigeons over
Constant stream of Gulls - Lesser Black Backed and Herring - 2 min Great Black Backed - Many on Mitchells House too
4 Wheatear

Lots of birds here - worth visiting especially with it being a North South Valley and quit a few cows and horses especially with the Equestrian Centre so must be a good spot for Yellow Wagtails.


Also stopped at Ewood Bridge Sewage Works:-

min 40 Pied Wagtails
1 Grey Wagtail
150 Jackdaws approx
2 Grey Heron
1 Lesser Black Backed gull
7 stock Dove
also a few Mallard, Black-Headed Gulls, Carrion Crows and Magpies
Andy Young had 15 swallows

A good morning/Afternoon birding some good birds seen 

Stonefold : as you say not Red-Tailed Hawk but what a cracking Buzzard that was
