After another mini beast from the east a break in the weather this afternoon with some sunshine and 10 degrees before the thunderstorms rolled in.....

Chiffchaff....one singing at back of house, two more singing and feeding on the railway embankment between Stubbins and Strongstry, then later another in song at Porritt lodge

Sand Martin.....three hawking along the river near nest site.

Mistle Thrush....a pair have started nest building in a tree at side of railway, been a while since I have recorded breeding here.

Green Woodpecker.....pair calling near last years nest hole.

Sparrowhawk....Male hunting near Alderbottom.

Grey Wagtail....three pair showing nesting activity along the river.

Dipper....two pair around Strongstry, one pair with built nest.

Nearly a year after the poisoning of the river invertebrates we are due to carry out kick testing in the next week or so when the river levels are low enough.

Regards Brian.
