Grey Heron, 1 on HTL,

Canada Goose, pair at HTL,

Mallard, c6 on The Irwell,

Moorhen, 2 pair on HTL with 1 bird sitting,

L.B.B.Gull, steady passage west with c30 birds,

B.H.Gull, 2 on The Irwell,

Collared Dove, 2 at Road End,

Swift, 2 over Rawtenstall,

House Martin, 3 over Rawtenstall,

Sand Martin, 3 down The Irwell,

Pied Wagtail, 2,

Grey Wagtail, 1 on The Irwell,

Redstart, singing bird still at Marl Pits. Singing well at times but difficult to see in thick leaf canopy,

Song Thrush, 3 singing birds,

Mistle Thrush, pair feeding on playing fields at Marl Pits,

Willow Warbler, c3 singing birds along The Irwell,

Blackcap, c8 singing birds from several locations,

Nuthatch, 2 juv birds at Greenbank,

Rook, at least 3 juv birds at Longholme Rookery,

Hi David,

Over two visits today for the Redstart in Buckden woods, I spent a good hour listening to its song but as youve said found it impossible to locate this bird either.
