I was lucky enough to be working near Martin Down this week and although it was 7:00P.M. it was still quite good for butterflies with the following noted:

Dark Green Fritillary, c6,

Marbled White, c40,

Small Skipper, c20,

Meadow Brown, c80

Ringlet, c40

Birds were a little quiet but the following were noted:

Turtle Dove, 1 over & 3 calling birds,

Lesser Whitethroat, 3 singing birds,

Skylark, c30,

Raven, 1 over,

Linnet, c20,

Yellowhammer, c20, many in song

Corn Bunting, 1 singing bird.

Mammals were good too with:

Roe Buck, 1,

Fallow Deer, doe & fawn near Fordingbridge,

Wood Mouse, 1,

Common Shrew, 1,

Otter, 2 on the River Avon whilst having a beer back in Fordingbridge!

Regards,

David.
