At least 3 whinchats near the top of the valley (Rossendale side) and 2 further down approaching AMR (Manchester side). Also 3 wheatears and a green woodpecker around here.
AMR - 8 lapwings on the res and one curlew over E. 3 goosanders the only ducks. 50+ pied wagtails, good numbers of meadow pipits (100+?) and a few linnets around the shore/banks.
Fairly quiet on the moors - relatively small numbers of meadow pipits and only 2 skylarks. 2 wheatears Dearden Moor and a flock of at least 100 goldfinches on the old tip at Horncliffe.
