1 jack snipe flushed from under my feet - probably within an inch or two of actually kicking it. 6 snipe and an adult peregrine in the area and at least 4 skylarks Thirteen Stone Hill. Amongst many singing birds one blackbird in Rawtenstall, several chaffinches and innumerable song thrushes
