Ring Ouzel - 4 (2males, 2females) in the fields below the west end of Hurdles Quarry (above farm). One other heard at the winding house area to the west was probably a different bird

Wheatear - 10 total of which 3 females and 3 singing birds (2 at the winding house and one Hurdles). Pairs at Hurdles and nr Foe Edge. Oddly none seen around the quarries west of Cowpe Lowe. All the birds were in likely breeding habitat

Linnet - 1 Horncliffe. Stock Dove - 2 Hurdles. No flocks of meadow pipit or skylark and only one singing reed bunting (top end Dearden Moor)

Worryingly few waders with just a single lapwing on Dearden Moor and the only curlew a very distant calling bird from Cragg Quarry (somewhere over the hill)

Andy
