0730/1030 hrs, after a night of thunderstorms, calm 13/15 deg Cloudy.

Lots of song and nesting activity by our common residents especially Wrens.

Of note.....

Dipper.....four pair have now established territory but are still nest building.

Sand Martin......18 hawking over the nesting bank and 5 nest holes under construction.

Swallow....6, 4, along the river and 8 around Chatterton farm.

Grey Wagtail.....two pair with nesting material.

Goosander.....two pair still on rocks at Alderbottom.

Chiffchaff......five in song around, one pair at back of my house nesting.

Willow Warbler.....9 seen and heard, the early arrivals have paired at Stubbins and Chatterton Wood and are nesting, one of the birds at Chatterton Wood has a silver ring on the right leg (presumably BTO).

Blackcap.....two in song, not seen.

Bullfinch....pair at traditional nest site on cycle track.

Goldfinch.....Several pair.

Chaffinch.....as above.

Long-tailed Tit.....3 fully build nests.

Green Woodpecker......there appear to be 4 pair on territory, this is the most I have recorded here.

Great Spotted Woodpecker......at least four pair calling and displaying.

Nuthatch.....usual good numbers.

Tree Creeper.....single feeding First I have seen for a while.

Jay....very noisy.

Grey Heron.....four nest sites.

Moorhen.....two pair on small lodges.
