One this morning between Compston's and Clowbridge and the Clough Bottom bird also still present. Little else of any great interest at either res or on the way up and down from Rawtenstall.
Other bits and bobs for the last few days:
Now two little grebes at HTL and coot still present
Sand martins up to 30 at the Townsendfold colony by last Saturday. The cold weather has put paid to any nesting activity (I trust temporarily) since then and numbers have declined somewhat - around 10 birds today
The ravens have fledged 2 young. Also in the last couple of days my first fledged stonechats (Holcombe moor yesterday) and grey wagtails (Rawtenstall today)
The only decent hirundine day at the sewage works was yesterday (13/5) with 3-400 house martins, c50 swallows and a handfull of sand martins
