Snipe - my first of the autumn singles south of Hameldon (13th) and Harden Moor (15th). They seem to have been very thin on the ground in the breeding season this year

Common sandpiper - one passage bird at Townsend Fold (16th).

Whinchat - one Clowbridge (13th)

Wheatear - seen daily over the past week in varying numbers. 4 Cribden Flats (12th). 3 south of Hameldon and 2 Bonfire Hill (13th). 8 near Swallow Shore (15th)

Siskin - 3 Groundwork (12th) my first of the Autumn

Dipper - singing birds at Crawshawbooth (15th) and Townsendfold (16th)

There are still one or two skylarks on the moors but there have been no notable numbers of meadow pipits as yet on the higher ground

Andy
