Apologies for late post, but not much about at Grane yesterday. Calf Hey was ridiculously busy. I had hoped the morning rain would've kept folk away, but alas not.
Canada goose - 119 across the reservoirs
heron - 1 at Ogden
cormorant - 21 at Holden Wood & 2 at Ogden
mallard - 2pr on the reservoirs & 5 at Jamestones
goldeneye - 4 in Jamestone west, looked like a male, 2 females & an immature male
kestrel - 2 around Heap Clough/ Jamestones
buzzard - 2 or 3 at Ogden, 1 of which was stood in field for around half an hour
great black-backed gull - adult on Ogden & a juv over to the west
common gull - 2
black-headed gull - c60
great spotted woodpecker - 1 at Calf Hey
stonechat - 1pr at Holden wood
fieldfare - c70 over Holden Wood & 10 at Heap Clough
redwing - flocks of 10 & c70 at Holden Wood
mistle thrush - 1 at Ogden
nuthatch - 1 or 2 near the feeders at Calf Hey
coal tit - c15 at feeders at Calf Hey
chaffinch - c 12 at feeders at Calf Hey. None seen anywhere else
goldfinch - c12 at feeders at Calf Hey. A few also at Heap Clough & Holden Wood
bullfinch - calling birds near the feeders at Calf Hey
Small birds in short supply all round at Grane, with only 2 robins and 2 blackbirds seen all day.
