At least 10 Snow Buntings seen and heard just off the Rossendale Way above Beetle Hill at 1230 today by V Irving and B. Ennie.

Had a look later with Brian and Paul and up to Bull Hill trig but couldn't relocate them . Could very well still around ..Happy New Year..

Present again this morning c10.00. Heard a couple of times then seen in flight heading south round the corner of Beetle Hill (12 birds). Unable to relocate them in the general area

No sign of the Buntings for me this morning but a few other birds around:
Sparrowhawk, female soaring above,
Woodcock, bird flushed from 6" snow on Alden Ratchers,
Fieldfare, 8 over south,
Little Owl, 1 in Alden,
Stonechat, pair plus a male in Alden,
Raven, at least one pair on the tops.

10,30am & 11,30am

16 Snow Buntings seen twice, briefly on the north slope of Bull Hill. Very flighty and kept disappearing into Alden Brook valley. Down towards Beetle hill.

Few other birds seen:

X2 fieldfare,

X2 raven,

Buzzard,

Kestrel,

Meadow pipit.

16 Snow buntings seen this morning between 10.35 and 10.50 am At the side of beetle Hill whilst walking up towards Bull Hill.

Thanks Martin for adding them.  They are really nicer photos.  Snow Buntings in Snow not on Sand.  

Steven Higginbottom send me these photos of the Snow Buntings.  They are taken by him.  He sent me these a few days back but I kept forgetting to add them.
