grey heron - 10 at Warth & 1 over Townsendfold
Canada goose - 2pr at Holmes Terrace Lodge
mallard - min 17 in Waterfoot & 7 at Holmes Terrace Lodge
mandarin - female still in Waterfoot
woodcock - 1, probably 2, at Warth
buzzard - 2 over Edge Cote
sparrowhawk - female hunting Woodlea Road in Waterfoot & a male seen over Cribden
kestrel - male at Warth
black-headed gull - c50 in fields below Brow Edge Quarry, c200 at EBSW & c36 on lampposts in Rawtenstall
common gull - c12 in fields below Brow Edge Quarry
lesser black-backed gull - 1 over Townsendfold
herring gull - c 10 over Townsendfold
kingfisher - 1 at The Holme with small fish
skylark - c6 at Whinberry Pasture
collared dove - 1 on Woodlea Road
stock dove - 1pr at Warth & 1pr at Rossdale Farm near Balladen
woodpigeon - singles, pairs & small flocks throughout the walk
pied wagtail - 2 near Brow Edge Quarry
grey wagtail - 1 in Waterfoot, 2 at Warth & 1 near Ilex Mill
great spotted woodpecker - 1 in Staghills Woods
nuthatch - singing bird at Warth
robin - 17 at Warth
blackbird - several singing birds throughout the walk
song thrush - several singing birds throughout the walk
mistle thrush - singing bird in Trickett's Memorial & 1 chasing blackbirds in Staghills Woods, which was a first for me
redwing - min 8 very vocal birds near Holly Farm at Warth
dipper - 1 at Fallbarn
goldcrest - 1 in Lea Bank Wood
blue tit - min 10 at Warth
great tit - 12 at Warth
coal tit - just 1 at Warth & 2 in Staghills Woods
long tailed tit - 2pr at Warth included a pair high up at Higher Lench Farm, 4 at The Holme & 2prs in Staghills Woods
dunnock - 2prs & a single at Warth, with singing birds in all suitable locations on rest of walk
wren - only small numbers recorded
starling - flock of 30 near Brow Edge Quarry & 2prs in treetops at Higher Cloughfold
jay - 2 at Warth
magpie - only c10 seen
jackdaw - c30 at Townsendfold, 20 in Lea Bank Wood & c150 across Waterfoot & Warth
carrion crow - c20 throughout the walk
house sparrow - usual flock at Gaghills, small flock near Rossdale Farm. Appears to have disappeared from The Holme
chaffinch - 4 females with a male at the feeders at Warth, with another 5 singing birds in the area. 2 singing birds at farms near Brow Edge Quarry
goldfinch - 1pr plus a charm of 8 at Warth
bullfinch - 1 male at Warth & 2 males on Cloughfold Rec
