Working in Barnsley as I spent the evening birding some of the local sites finishing off near Langsett for a great display by the moorland Nightjars with the following seen:
Langsett. A moorland site at almost 1000ft elevation with pine forest and heather moorland.
Red Grouse, c12,
Woodcock, 2 over roding,
Cuckoo, 3 birds together on a wall / fence posts,
Long Eared Owl, adults hunting the moorside with calling young from the wood,
Nightjar. Churring started c21:30 and the first two birds seen at 21:50. Super aerial display with 4 birds up together at one point plus another bird churring nearby.

Little Egret, 5 feeding on the flash,
Avocet, party of 6,
Garden Warbler, 2 singing birds,
Reed Warbler, 2 nearby at Ferrymoor,
Yellowhammer, 3 singing birds.
Old Moor.
Marsh Harrier, female showing well over tops of the reeds,
