After seeing the Red-necked Grebe last Saturday at AMR a lifer for me, another lifer was reported
at Marshside Southport. A Black-winged Stilt had been reported and seen at Neils Hide I had to hope
it would stay around till this Saturday, luckily it was still being reported seen Saturday morning.
Got there early to Neils Hide to see the Black-winged Stilt was still a sleep but not for long it started to do a little preening then off it went walking around on them very long pink/red legs looking really
elegant, lifer tick
male Ruff was displaying to two females
Avocet no sign of nesting as yet
Called in at Hesketh Out Marsh
The pools where full of Shelduck
4 Black-tailed Godwit
2 Ruff
Teal
Gadwell
Redshank
3 Cettis Warbler
2 Whitethroat
Tree Sparrows in and out of nest boxes
1 Pill Woodlouse never seen one of these before (see photo)
all in all a really good day
Cheers Craggy
