Lesser Scaup and Richards Pipit 3/3/2024

With a spring like day forecast for Sunday thought Id give the long staying Richards Pipit a go

But first calling at Fell End Nature Reserve for the Green Winged Teal

Never been here before small nice place managed to see it although briefly before disappearing behind a small island must have gone to sleep

also seen lots of Teal - Gadwall - Little Grebe - Great White Egret - Buzzard

Next call was RSPB Leighton Moss for the rest of the morning

On arriving news of two Lesser Scaup showing at the public hide they were showing well a Male and Female with Tufted Ducks nice unexpected Lifer

and a added bonus a Female Ring-necked Duck just behind the Tufted Ducks

Decided to set off for what I went to see the Richards Pipit in Ulverston along Brick Kiln Road

Was showing quite well some times completely out into the open short grass giving good views of it very long legs and its stand which is

very upright making it look quite tall nice to see and lifer too

Got back to RSPB Leighton Moss for the last couple of hours daylight made my way to Griesdale Hide which gives good views of the Moss

4 Great White Egrets

5 Marsh Harriers up together

4 possibly 5 booming Bitterns from different points of the Moss

1 female Red Deer feeding at the waters edge

Nice roundup to the day

Cheers Craggy
