  • moorhen - 2 at Jack Lodge & 3 at Shortclough
  • lapwing - 1 at Shadlock Cote
  • kestrel - 1 at Swinshaw Moor
  • buzzard - 3 at Peersclough & 2 at Greenfold
  • herring gull - 2 over Peersclough/ Greenfold
  • great spotted woodpecker - 1 at Bottomley Bank Farm
  • swift - 3 over Piercy
  • stock dove - 1 at Jack Lodge, 2 at Shadlock Cote & 3 at Bottomley Bank Farm
  • swallow - 7 at Jack Lodge, c30 at Lumb Corner & 10 at Greenfold
  • willow warbler - singing bird and family party at Peersclough
  • whitethroat - 1 at Peersclough
  • whinchat - 3 at Shadlock Cote
  • wheatear - 1 at Shadlock Cote
  • linnet - c100 at Shadlock Cote & 1 at Peersclough
  • reed bunting - 22 at Peersclough

Hi, Kevin, some additional sightings from the area -

Morning visit to Shortclough res. 17/8/25.

1 Grey Heron swimming around in the middle of the res. looking like an emaciated swan.

2 Coot, no young.

2 Little Grebe, no young.

2pr Moorhen w/6+ young of various sizes.

1 Chiffchaff called briefly.

3 Buzzard over Brookes's Wood inc. 1 food-begging juv.

2 Raven over, close flying in pair bonding flight - also present on 16/8.

House Martin feeding young at nest at York St, Crawshawbooth.
