12 + starlings amongst rusting agricultural machinery. 1 grey heron in the river - fair number of butterflies on the edges of the birch woodland - large numbers of green-veined whites(which haunt the wet, woodland edges)c.12+,  a fair number of orange tips c.20, and at least 6+ Peacocks. Blackbirds singing ,as was willow warbler.

Usual carrion crows & wood pigeons flying around, and 1 grey goose. Looked like a greylag(slightly too small and too quiet for typical Canada, even at a long distance. Came down in the rushes and moorlands, a normal greylag haunt(not a Canada haunt). A solitary piping oystercatcher flying overhead in the distance, and one male kestrel very close.

After much climbing, skylarks & meadow pipit on the high tops but no mallard(unlike last visit)in the two high pools.

Swallows, house martins & jackdaws over the open fields on way back. One roe deer bounding away at my approach.

Getting near the giant crane in the construction area on the way back several house sparrows in a "satellite-like" association.
