Osprey’s Foulshaw Moss and Black Terns Leighton Moss 26/4/2026

Foulshaw Moss Ospreys 

Both the nests are occupied again this year 

Nest one the long-standing breeding pair are sitting on a clutch of three eggs 

Nest two the first time parents of last year are also sitting on a clutch of three eggs 

Nest two gives better views of the nesting pair especially when the Osprey brings fish for the sitting bird 

a nice hour or so watching these Ospreys before moving onto Leighton Moss


Eric Morecambe Hide

Called to see Spotted Redshank in breeding plumage as up to 4 have been seen

On the way to hide a Grasshopper Warbler was calling as was two Cettis Warblers 

Birds seen

1 Spotted Redshank in breeding plumage

1 Greenshank

3 Spoonbill 

50+ Black-tailed Godwit

20+ Avocet

1 Great Egret

2 Marsh Harrier

4 Pochard 

A quick look around Leighton Moss best was Lilians Hide 

Lilians Hide 

2 Black Terns show really well

1 Little Gull 

1 Marsh Harrier 

2 booming Bitterns heard 

A good afternoon out
