I recently went up Lench road in a bid to join up with the Rossendale Way and along through Cragg Quarry and then down past Cowpe Reservoir but I got a bit lost.
Can anyone help advise the best way up ? I reached the 3 farm houses and the track seemed to stop. I have an OS map but I am not too keen on tresspassing through someones land inadvertantly. Any help would be great as I am trying to establish a local patch having just moved into Newchurch from Rawtenstall.
When you go up Lench Lane and get to the 3 farm houses you carry on along the path that goes between them. Just past the farmhouses you can turn left up a farm track that takes you through 2 fields towards Lowe Lodge. From here you can pick up a path that will take you round the back of Cowpe Lowe and if you follow the path further it will take you to Cragg Quarry. Hope this helps. It may be easier to do the journey in reverse as thepath up to Cragg Quarry from the Cowpe Res is easier to follow and it is easy to find the way round Cowpe Lowe as well.
