Hi Kevin - were these near the inlet end? Many reservoirs are unsuitable for dragonflies due to stone sides and lack of emergent vegetation.

By the way, there is a nationwide survey being carried out into Broad-bodied Chasers by the British Dragonfly Society so please enter any records you may have here:

Hi Ina -
If you mean on the Atlas site, the answer is no. But that facility is intended for casual records rather than regular visits to sites as part of a tetrad survey. The preferred method is to put the records in an Excel file and send that in at the end of the season. The spreadsheet can be downloaded from the Atlas site. Ideally, I'd prefer people to send the spreadsheets to me so that I know what has been found locally.

I have been keeping a record for myself of sightings posted to this forum and sent in other ways mainly for the purpose of keeping track of coverage in the Rossendale area so that new areas can be targeted in future years.

If you do submit any casual records (e.g. at sites away from your usual tetrad) via the Atlas site, could you let me have the details too, to keep my records up to date?

Obviously, record any B-b Chasers on the Dragonfly Soc site as part of the national survey.

Ta, Jim

Hi Jiim

All the sightings were On the Rochdale corner.  This is nearer the dam wall than the inlet.

cheers Kevin

Hi Kevin - it's just that reservoirs aren't usually particularly good for dragonflies etc because they mostly have stony banks with little vegetation. John H has found very little at Clough Bottom, for example. Perhaps there is some vegetation along that part of Spring Mill.

Keep looking anyway!
