Good places for birdwatching in rossendale

Hey,

As you have all probably noticed by now i tend to not bird watch outside of Grane but will change that.  Ideally I would love to visit some new areas for birdwatching within Rossendale - all types of habitat welcome but any involving a good walk with some ascent would be a plus point. Directions from Haslingden would also be a good thing too!

Hi Sarfraz -

One that immediately comes to mind is Plunge, more correctly called the Dearden valley, at Edenfield.

Assuming you can navigate to Edenfield the path starts about half-a-mile down the Rochdale road. This map will help:

You can walk right up the valley to Scout Moor Res, Whittle Pike, Waugh's Well.
People get a fair mix of birds from woodland ones low down to moorland ones along the upper slopes.
