Yes there are about 100-200 Lapwings currently on the roof at Interfloor (ex Durie & Miller) on Knowsley Road at 1300hrs Sat Nov 17th 2007. I have managed to take a couple of photos (below) but please excuse quality. Although I did see them in the sky doing their swirls etc and would probably have estimated at least 150, there could well have been over the 200 mark.  (usually if I where to play the counting birdgame at http://personal.inet.fi/cool/live/birds/index.html I would be well under estimate, and this is probably the situation today with these Lapwings. If you want to play the counting game check it out by clicking on the link: Start it by clicking New Game, then OK, then New Game again.  When you have guessed how many birds went through, enter the amount and click OK and it will then give you the result....... if you want more after 5 shots just click the new game again and they will get harder and harder and harder......
here are the Lapwing photos on Interfloor roof, but this is only part of the flock, there are others what could not be seen on the photos:

I tried your game Bryan...I think I am in need of medication now!!!
Most of my efforts were a gross under-estimation, closest I got was 10 away.  Need more practice, obviously.

Ina et al, you did really well, I am lucky if I got within 50.  I am wondering now how many Starling, Fieldfare and Redwing I have underestimated!!! probably hundreds....
Steve et al, Sorry mate you would have had to been around about 250,000 years or so, give or take!!

Seriously!!
The Lapwings have been about to my knowledge for over a week or so on Interfloor, and I have noticed that during certain times of the day you may see odd breakaway parties between about 20 and 40 which head towards Cribden Flatts where they must take on their feeding, and then later in the day you may see them return heading towards Interfloor.

Dont know whether this is a new temporary hold out or whether it will take on a more permanent Winter base, like it has already at Walker Steel roof at Blackburn, The Supermarkets Roofs near Burnley Railway Station and others as reported on the Manchester Forum.

Just worth noting also that this area and also part of the Interfloor roof was exactly the same spot as where the Pied Wagtails used to roost a few years ago.

Cheers,
Bryan.
