Haslingden & Oswaldtwistle Moors - Tues Apr 22nd 2008
Permalink

approx 1pm - 3.30pm Grane Information Centre over Haslingden Moor to Dry Hill - Warmwithens on Oswaldtwistle Moor and check out Dotterel/Greenland Wheatear haunts etc....and return...

Golden Plover
: 4  (a party of 3 flushed and settled down somewhere around top of Deep Clough) plus a solitary bird right on the Moors East-West boundary

Curlew: 3  a breeding pair plus a single.

Twite:  A single bird put up around the moor boundary which then headed towards the Oswaldtwistle direction.

Skylark:  Probably some 10-15 pairs within the area I covered.

Meadow Pipit:  Maybe some 10 pairs within the area I covered.

Large dark butterflies: Moving too fast and I was not close enough to get a clear view, but had 3 different ones flying across the moor.

Did not have any Grouse today which is unusual....

Cheers,
Bryan.
