Woodpecker, singles calling from Clough Head and Ogden, Meadow Pipit, c20 west with largest party 6, Grey Wagtail, 1 at Troy, Redwing, c20 west, Song Thrush, 2, Fieldfare, 4 feeding on pasture, Mistle Thrush, 4, L.T. Tit, 2 flocks, Goldcrest, c12 at Calf Hey, Raven, 1 flew low over Haslingden Moor through the mist calling! Bullfinch, small flock calling from bushes near Calf Hey! Regards, David Nuttall.
I was around Grane from 11:30 to 16:30 and can add the following to what you saw.
heron - 1 at Holden Wood cormorant increased to 5 at Holden Wood mallard - 15 at Holden Wood kestrel - 2 at Holden Wood and 2 at Calf Hey snipe - 12 on Haslingden Moor red grouse - 3 on Haslingden Moor black headed gull - 114 at Holden Wood common gull - 17 over Haslingden Moor green woodpecker - 1 at Heap Clough grey wagtail - 3 at Ogden, 1 at Holden Wood dipper - 1 at Holden Wood wren - 1 on Haslingden Moor stonechat - pairs at Holden Wood, Calf Hey and Heap Clough fieldfare - 13 over Holden Wood and 5 at Calf Hey jackdaw - 70 at Holden Wood siskin 10 at Carrs Industrial Estate
at about 3.50pm there were a flock of about 50 lapwings visible from h'den tesco's which then flew towards grane
at about 5pm over clough head about 50 b h gulls flew past and must have headed in the direction of h'den moor 10 minutes later about 15 more flew past heading same way
there were about 20 carrion crows , a male kestrel ........at pickup bank a flock of 8 thrushes ..might have been rediwngs
about 5.30pm a pair corvids flew over near ogden res and heading in musbusry direction - im sure theywere ravens.
