Loads of mist and no Waxies, however we did meet two fine specimens from Haslingden in the robust shapes of Messers Yorke and Payne. Nice to see you guys, always good company! Brian & Charlie had the following before we met - 13 Redwing + 1 Fieldfare nr K. Steels 12 Long Tailed Tit + 1 G.S.W. at Holme Lane 1 Grey Wagtail on the river. Upstream near Groundwork 1pr of Goosander were on the river and a Dipper was at The Holme. Undoubtedly the bird of the afternoon was a fine Peregrine sat on the electricty pylon near to All Saints School which flew off towards Rawtenstall and went to roost on the chimney at Hardmans Mill. Judging from the amount of droppings on the road it would appear that this bird has been roosting here for a good few days.
report from patient who knew i would be interested-waxwings seen on trees behind kingston cres-twice this week-must be the back of trees onto the deserted mill site on holcombe road. had drive down at 12ish-saw nothing pat
sorry for confusion Bob, I have enough confusion working this computer.Kingston cres off gregory fold straight down broadway past high school, but the bank of trees that i think they must have been in would be better seen at the back of the site where hamilton mcbride used to be, opp Musbury fabrics on Holcombe road. Site blocked off to cars now because that is where the gypsys went and caused mess so site very undisturbed- looks like it should be good for all sorts of birds now. Pat
