Good numbers of Swallows & Martins present probably c70 with at least c11 Swift. 1 Sparrowhawk over Horncliffe 1 Kestrel flew over 2 Oystercatcher 1 Pied Wagtail Blackcap in song - 6 between E.B.S.W. & Stronstry 2 Long Tailed Tit in Stongstry woods 2f Mallard with 10 yng on river at Strongstry Green Woodpecker calling at Irwell Vale Kingfisher at Ewood Bridge Whitethroat in song at Ewood Bridge Reed Bunting in song amongst rushes nr K Steels 4 Blackcap in song between Ewood Bridge and The Holme Just 1 Grey Wagtail seen all morning - at The Holme 5 Canada Geese on riverbank at Townsendfold 2 Common Sandpiper on riverbank at Townsendfold 1 Grey Heron 1 Black Bellied Whistling Duck on river. Usual common species in song but no Nuthatch, G.S.W. M.Thrush, Chiffchaff, Bullfinch, Goldcrest and just a single Dipper.
