Can anyone give me any good ways to help keep a neighbours cat from my garden, it keeps taking the visiting birds, I managed to save a baby blackbird yesterday, but this particular cat has rich pickings in my garden and is there a lot of the time, I always chase it away if I happen to see it, but it hides behind plants and shrubs and the ground feeding birds are becoming very vulnerable. Any tried and tested ways will be gladly received, as soon as possible so I can take action. Many thanks.
Hi, I have a similar problem, but I really like the cat, so I made friends with her and asked her not to do it. Didn't work obviously!!
A water pistol from a window may be better than chasing as will take it by surprise, but you have to be there 24/7. There's a device (ultra-sonic I think) for sale in birding mags, but that's not much use if you need it in a hurry. Do you have a cage over your ground feeder? Somewhere the birds can take refuge.
Best I can do I'm for now, hope someone else can help'
thanks, Its not a ground feeder that is the problem, its where food falls to the ground from feeders in the tree, right next to where it falls is a huge hosta and a shrub which the cat hides behind, I will invest in a water pistol and look into the ultra sonic device. Does anyone use the ulta sonic device? Does it work well?
