Peter,
Was the Whitethroat in a particular area around the reservoir? Glad you saw the Crossbills,had a sighting myself a while back only too be replaced by a sighting of 2 Bullfinch in the same area a day later!

The whitethroat was on the far side of the res from the car park, just before the plantation where the crossbills were seen on the top side of the rushy field.

Many thanks for that,caught up with the bird in the area, just as you described, on Wednesday evening. 40 Goldfinch,10 Linnet,5 wet Wheatear,2 Willow Warbler, 3 Reed Bunting also.
