Sat Oct 17th 2009 - Hutton Roof, Cumbria.
0715-1430hrs
Wind: Northerly light 5mph and decreasing.
Movement:
Thrushes 98% NW,N or NE
Chaffinch: E or SE or W (prominence to South E or W)
Other species South unless stated otherwise.
 
It was great with the Thrushes right from the word go, so just had to milk it right up to the end... Fieldfare coming through today in much bigger parties, but would still reckon the best has to come with them.  Redwings still going through strong and still big parties.
 
Redwing: 10,975 E,N,NW, mainly NE (131 parties, best parties: 260,200,240,200,280,300,1200,650,170,150,300,230)
Fieldfare: 9,886 E,N,NW,mainly NE (115 parties, best parties: 200,350,250,200,300,200,200,240,220,400,200)
Starling: 765 E(18 parties: best parties: 80,70,160,50,50)
Chaffinch: 216 (all E or W - with leanings to SE or SW)
Meadow Pipit: 55
Greenfinch: 25 (seen fronting Redwing parties)
Brambling: 10 (6 seen fronting Redwing parties)
Siskin: 31 (one party 17 NE)
Skylark: 11 (1NE & 6NW)
LBBG:50E
Goldfinch: 5
Pied Wagtail: 4
Woodpigeon: 194
Reed Bunting: 4
Redpoll: 9 (5 fronting Redwing party)
Pink Footed Goose: 175W  (3 skeins: 60 at 0930, 80 at 0930, 35 at 1140.
Common Snipe: 4 (3E & 1W)
 
 
Golden Plover - several calls (heard close - yet could not find)
Curlew - calls but could not find.
Mistle Thrush: 1
Raven - 1 on Hutton Roof.
Had a large thrush going East similar size and look to Mistle Thrush but had vivid white patches under the wings to body?  any comments welcome
