Catch up from Cumbria...

Great to read the most recent records, especially about the Cuckoo in Haslingden Grane, that just is a record Ive been waiting to hear for such a long time....

White Tailed Sea Eagle was knocking about around here but its over a month ago now... dont know which way it headed...

Garden Warblers up here seem quite common!! in fact I am finding more of them than actual Blackcap which does suprise me, unless its just that its a good year up here.  But I remember coming up here about 10 years ago and they did seem so rare.

I have had just the Cuckoos from the back of us at Hutton Roof and another one calling from the back over Ambleside.  They are still about...

Lesser Whitethroats are doing really well this year.  John Wilson (ex RSPB- Leighton Moss) has noticed a increase this year...

Dotterel where recorded at around the Arkholme areas (not far from me maybe 6 mile).

I have only had one Whitethroat as yet.  Not yet had any Pied or Spotted Flys. Did have a Wood Warbler a few days ago.  Absolutely Chiffchaffs everywhere, even on our drive...

Yesterday was good among the Duke of Burgundy Butterflies at Gait Barrows (check out blog:  http://arnsidesilverdale.blogspot.com/  Until yesterday I did not know they where actually releasing them having matured them from eggs.  Also had Green Hairstreaks and Small Heaths etc.  First Common Blues this week.

Had the odd after tea walks around Leighton, to look for roding Woodcocks, sadly as yet none this year... also just missed the Otters the other evening, but did have what could have been over 20 calling Sedge Warblers.

Orchids coming through all over at present: Early Purple, Ladys Slipper and Common Twayblades, Green Winged... still lots to come.

Will keep you posted on any developments... love the Rossendale records.  Enjoyed the Brown Wardle Dotterel etc and do hope that Cuckoo stays around, its been long overdue.

All my catch ups can been read at my blog if interested:
