Hi everyone,
Sorry for the late posting on this year's event but computer connection problems stopped me posting earlier!

Last week's race was the best recorded with a total of 77 species seen on the day.

Four teams of two took part and the team scores were:

Team A = 50 species.
Team B = 65 species.
Team C = 65 species.
Team D = 66 species. (Ian B & John H.)

The highlights of the day were:

Mute Swan, pair including sitting bird,
Buzzard, 1,
Coot, 1 location,
Snipe, several "chipping" birds with maybe 4 different territories involved so better numbers,
Little Owl, just one bird,
Kingfisher,
Green Woodpecker, 1 or two,
Wood Warbler, 2 different singing birds,
Whitethroat, several singing birds,
Spotted Flycatcher, at least two sites,
Nuthatch, at least two locations,
Treecreeper,
Siskin, 1 over,

Several species known to summer in our recording area were not seen on the day, for example Sparrowhawk, and so the 80+ mark could realisticly be a future target!

Regards,
David.
