I have just had to replace my feeders thanks to 'hairy-tailed furious rat' activity.
Bought a 6 perch one from Winners for £12, but I'm sure you can find cheaper if you aren't bothered by squirrels.
Big sack of sunflower hearts from Rising Bridge is £28.
I mixed a little Cayenne Pepper in with seed and watched squirrel eat....think about it...eat again....think about it....had one last try and I haven't seen it since!!!

Thanks for the recommendation. The only visitors Ihave are Starling, Sparrow, Feral Pigeons, Jackdaws and the odd Carrion Crow and Blackbird.

We tend to feed them household scraps. Squirrel are very rare here. Its not green enough and too many cats. There appears to be a healthy Starling and House Sparrow population. They are more than happy to eat on the wall same with the Jackdaws and Pigeons.
The feeder I will put up outside in the wild for the winter so the birds do not go hungry. I bought a basic one from B & Q like this :-

http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=10046496&fh_view_size=10&fh_start_index=20&fh_location=%2f%2fcatalog01%2fen_GB&fh_search=bird+feeder&fh_eds=%c3%9f&fh_refview=search&ts=1283712525329&isSearch=true

for £2-3 but o the website it shows a cheaper price. How much would a simple thing like that cost in Winfields?

I do not want a too big a sack - something like 1-2 kilos would do fine. I think BnQ are not exactyl cheap - and would rather buy the cheapest possible but not affecting the quality.

Hi Sarfraz
Rising Bridge will sell you a smaller amount of sunflower hearts. A big sack lasts me about 2 months.....but may last longer now I'm not feeding the squirrel.  lol.

Where In Rising Bridge do you buy the bird feed from? Is it the place where you turn right at the round about as you head in from H'den side?

Yes, that sounds about right.   Eureka Animal Feeds, Sherfin Tack Shop, over the door.

Mini roundabout going towards Accrington, go right and it's straight in front of you.

I had a look the other day. Thanks for the tips. There is so much to choose from and it is much cheaper than B & Q.
