Hi Craig,
I was actually thinking for most of the day, how it would have been down there with the Thrushes, they had over 10,000 go through "Winter Hill" yesterday see trektellan (http://www.trektellen.nl/default.asp?site=0&taal=2&land=5) click over last count, I dont think you need to sign in or anything, thats just if you want to load anything.

I missed loads which apparently where deep down in the Lune Valley (eg: Lupton, Nook areas, skirting Farelton Fells, but happy with what I got.

I think if the weather is kind, there will be good stuff going through today.  Also had a email from Norway forecasting more for today. From Eddie Voss at 04.23 this morning (Thr Oct 21st 2010)

I was on the coast near Bergen yesterday and it looks like you have more Fieldfares on the way. It was a good vismig day with an estimated 5000 Fieldfare on the move, many heading out to sea.

Regards,

Eddie, Voss, Norway  http://www.surfbirds.com/blog/Norway/

Craig, I am trying to investigate if anyone knows of any points in Lancs/Cumbria, where Fieldfares/Redwings actually go direct out to Sea.  In most of the correspondance I have read over the years, I do think they tend to turn North West especially on reaching the coast here and then carry on through the Lyth Valley, always welcome your comments on this...

All the best,
Bryan.

Hi Bryan, No i dont know of any points on the Lancs/Cumbrian coast where they go out to sea, but they must do somewhere heading to Ireland where big numbers end up. John Wilson/ Pete Marsh would be my best contacts to ask for Lancs, but you probably have. If there going NW from you, are they going southern Scotland-Stranraer across short sea crossing to northern Ireland??and from north Wales??
As posted on other thread, loads over this morning to NW here in big hundreds parties. Couldn`t stay out long cos of the little one in pram hmm. but best thrush passage day for a few years here.
Best wishes,Craig.
P.S. Thanks for the link.

Hi Craig,
Looks like you did OK with thrushes this morning also.  Lots are sneaking through here in the valleys deep down and flattened.  The wind is yet again spoiling things. but we can only see what tomorrow brings.

Yes your thoughts are very interesting and I am sure you could be correct in regards to routing.  I havnt yet had chance to speak to John about it but will soon, but I think I have already mentioned it to Peter.

Keep in touch, all the best,
Bryan
