I had superb views of three ravens displaying this afternoon, they were viewed from the Rossendale Way opposite Ogden Res. One was not displaying and spent a lot of time perched in a tree, the other two were rolling upside down and closing their wings to dive and were quite close, perhaps 50 yards. They seemed to be using the updraught on the hillside to their advantage with a slight northeast breeze. I expect they will be there for a few days if conditions remain the same. Also there was a pair of goldeneye on Ogden, heron, cormorant, goosanders, kestrel, grey wagtail, mallard, canada goose and corvids also about.
