Staghills Woods (Trickett's Memorial through to Lea Bank)

3 wood pigeon, 1 tawny owl, 1 green woodpecker, 4 great spotted woodpecker, 9 magpie, 2 jay, 1 jackdaw, 4 carrion crow, 2 goldcrest, 16 blue tit, 21 great tit, 2 coal tit, 10 long tailed tit, 4 treecreeper, 7 wren, 11 starling, 33 blackbird, 4 song thrush, 2
redwing, 19 robin, 1 grey wagtail, 18 chaffinch, 5 goldfinch

Marl Pits
7 lapwing, 1 sparrowhawk, 1 great spotted woodpecker, 10 long tailed tit, 6 blackbird, 3 redwing, 2 robin, 9 chaffinch, several goldfinch heard, 6 greenfinch, 11 siskin (another 4 at Waingate Village also)

Cowpe Res
1 redhead goosander, 10 long tailed tit, 2 goldcrest and circa 60 goldfinch flying in to roost in conifers
circa 300 gulls on res at 15:45 as follows
great black backed gull - 1
herring gull - 30 approx
lesser black back gull - 20 approx
common gull - 125 approx
black headed gull - 125 approx
The gulls looked set to stay and roost but some started flying off at about 15:50.  Some returned and again settled as though they were going to stay.  When I left at 16:05 most of the larger gulls were still present and perhaps half of the black headed and common gulls.  As I walked down through Cowpe village 50 larger gulls flew down the valley, presumably to go and roost elsewhere.

cheers Kevin
