Roe deer.

Probably four family groups and 2/3 bucks, only one new fawn seen this year but last years young number about five, in total I estimate 12 or 13 in the area.

I found the remains of one dead female in a gully in March, and there are still some shot in Irwell vale.

Fox.

I think three females with young, pretty well spred in the area, one den observed, young first above ground around mid may, there were four young and these are still around now, and healthy.

A male turned up one evening when the young were playing and was promptly seen off by the female.

Badger.

There is no active sett here to my knowledge, but we are visited regulary by upto five members of a family which travel quite far into this area using the same route each night.

Rabbit.

Stable population around the railway line but not large numbers.

Mole.

Good numbers in the fields ajacent to the river.

Grey squirrel.

Numbers are stable.

Wood mouse.

Common most places, especially where I store my bird food.

Voles [field and bank].

There are some old tin sheets i lift regular and always find voles, other than that very rarely seen.

Bats.

Pipistrelle are quite common, possible Whiskered and Daubentons.

Brown rat.

Common along the river especially in the old mills.

Mink.

Three adults were trapped early spring, no sightings since.

Hare.

One seen early spring in fields above Porritt lodge.

Not seen.

Stoat, Weasels, Hedgehog or any Shrews despite some live trapping.
