Last Wednesday evening there were two adult and two young feeding of the handrail of Chatterton foot bridge, I have seen one young today same place. The three young at Alderbottom have fledged and moved upstream, with parents, towards Irwell vale where they all looked well today. I checked the empty nest which had one infertile egg left in the nest.
With a thirty day time scale from laying to fledgeing i doubt they will nest again, so after a poor start they have ended up not to bad.
Sandmartin,
There are three nest sites being fed a the moment, I think these are second broods, one hole has three well developed young at the entrance.
Kingfisher,
There are two young quite active in the Stubbins vale area, I have had some goods views today of them not being very successful at fishing or keeping there balance on very thin perches.
Dipper,
There were two very young birds being fed today, these must be second broods.
Greywagtail,
After what appeared to be a poor and late start these have recovered well, there are at least three family parties along the river between Stubbins and Irwell vale.
Grey heron,
Only one young bird present, have not seen any more for a while.
