Fri 21st Oct 2011.     6.45-11am.

Weather - Hill fog and heavy drizzle to dry and overcast by 9.45am. Wind 10 increasing all the time to 20+SW.

After a tip-off (thanks Bryan) that Thrushes were arriving from the east yesterday pm in Yorkshire, braved the bad weather to have Redwing, in good numbers, going over from  before dawn. Fieldfares started to arrive after 1st hr of light, in large parties, dropping out of the mist. Quiet by 10am. Very little else other than Thrushes. All back to going the usual way - South, down the valley.

Apparently more Thrushes arriving on the East coast late morning today so could be ok tomorrow.

Redwing - 400+. 5-10`s steady early. Biggest party 90.

Fieldfare - 800+.  All large parties to 100+.

Greenfinch - 20.  2-3`s.

Mistle Thrush - 4 South.

Starling - 100+. 2 parties with Thrushes.

Hi Craig

Surprised you did not note any Woodpigeon as there seems to be high numbers moving. Was looking forward to going out this morning but thick fog here most of the day.

Hi Ste,

No, not a pigeon to be seen! Quite foggy up there to start with but lifted to mist and sunshine after an hour. Doesn`t seem to be a good Woody passage route up there as ive not seen many all autumn.

Craig.
