  3. mallard - 46 at Calf Hey + 4 flying down the valley
  4. goosander - 1 redhead on Calf Hey
  5. red grouse - 1 on Haslingden Moor
  6. cormorant - 1 on Holden Wood + 6 on Ogden
  7. grey heron - 1 flying over Grane Road carrying fish in beak, 1 at Holden Wood & 1 at Ogden
  8. great crested grebe - 1 at Ogden
  9. sparrowhawk - 1 flew through the feeding station at Calf Hey twice in ten minutes
  10. kestrel - 2 at Ogden
  11. peregrine - 1 over Holden wood
  12. lapwing - 6 at Holden Wood
  13. golden plover - 2 on Haslingden Moor
  14. snipe - 9 on Haslingden Moor
  15. woodcock - 1 at Calf Hey
  16. black headed gull - 100 at Holden Wood, 5 at Ogden and 22 at Calf Hey
  17. common gull - 3 at Holden wood + 1 at Ogden
  18. lesser black backed gull - 4 over Hslingden Moor
  19. great black backed gull - 1 x 2nd winter bird over Ogden
  20. wood pigeon - just 1 at Holden Wood
  21. great spotted woodpecker - 2 males at Calf Het feeding station, 2 heard round Calf Hey Res + 1 other bird flying towards Calf Hey from Clough Head
  22. magpie - 4 at Holden wood + 2 at Calf Hey
  23. jay - 1 at Holden wood
  24. jackdaw - 15 at Holden Wood
  25. carrion crow - 3 at Holden Wood, 4 at Ogden + 2 at Calf Hey
  26. raven - 2 over Ogden
  27. goldcrest - at least 1 in mixed flock in King's Hillock Wood + at least 5 in mixed flock at Calf Hey
  28. blue tit - 3 in King's Hillock wood, 8 at Calf Hey + 2 at Clough Head
  29. great tit - 1 in King's Hillock wood, 10 at calf Hey + 2 at Clough Head
  30. coal tit - 3 in King's Hillock Wood, 20 at calf hey + 2 at Clough Head
  31. long tailed tit - flocks of at least 8 + 6 at Calf Hey
  32. nuthatch - 2 at the far side of Calf Hey and 2 at the feeding station

A large area of trees below the dam wall at Calf Hey has been felled recently and the plantation along the side of the res is currently being felled

Hi Sarfraz

It was on the far side of Calf Hey in Fairy Glen on the edge of a patch of bracken.  As is usual I only got a fleeting glimpse as it flew away into cover
