3 snipe on banks of res
2 pied wagtails
usual great tits, blue tits, crows , jackdaws, magpies, woodpigeons, chaffinches, 1 linnet
no robins, thrushes of any sort
some canadas
on tops - meadow pipits, 1 skylark,
2 red grouse - never seen red grouse in rossendale before
a partidge which i thought may have been a grey partridge - ever seen partridge in rossendale before
a short-eared owl - must have been 2 metres away when it suddenly flew up pursued by lapwings, a large starling flock
45 herring gulls over - couple looking very white wingey and 1 looking very beastly
then back at holden wood 2 mallard drakes, 2 oystercatchers, 10 min lapwings in field, 2 grey wagtails, 1 grey heron, 7 cormorants most roosting
fisherman claimed that some cormorants have been carrying tiwgs...
also a hare on the tops..first i have seen in rossendale for a while
