14:00-17:00

Cormorant, 16 on Ogden with 4 on the water and 10 drying out on the bank at the top end; the most I can recall,

Grey Heron, 1 on Ogden,

Canada Goose, 39 on pasture at Holden Wood,

Mallard, c6,

Teal, c10 on Calf Hey but tucked into bank so could have been more,

Goldeneye, female on Calf Hey the first for a long while and scarce for me this winter,

Goosander, redhead on Calf Hey,

Lapwing, 13 at Holden Wood,

Golden Plover, 11 on Haslingden Moor,

B.H.Gull, c50 at Holden Wood,

Wood Pigeon, c20 at Holden Wood,

Green Woodpecker, 1 yaffled at Clough Head,

Fieldfare, c18 at Heap Clough,

Redwing, just two with Fieldfare,

Coal Tit, 5 at Clough Head on feeders and 1 singing at Calf Hey,

L.T.Tit, 1 on feeder at Clough Head and 6 in Heap Clough,

Raven, 1 over north gronking!

Golfinch, a charm of c25 on feeders at bottom of Heap Clough,

Greenfinch, c6,

Chaffinch, c6 inc singing bird at Calf Hey,

Siskin, 2 on feeders at Heap Clough.

Hi David, sorry, can you just confirm the Cormorants? Unclear whether there were 16 or 14 in all. A high count in any case.

If it helps, I was also at Grane yesterday and counted 16 on Ogden. Nothing of note to add to David's post for Grane. 15 GPs north of Scholes Heights and a raven over Musbury.

Hi chaps

 

I was up at Grane today for the WEBS count and there were 14 cormorants ion Ogden again.  The only things I can add to Dave's list are

  • mallard - 14 on Holden Wood
  • teal - 13 on Calf hey
  • snipe - 1 at Holden Wood
  • common gull - 5 on Holden Wood
  • black headed gull - c80 on Holden Wood
  • meadow pipit - 1 at Ogden
  • pied wagtail - 1 at Holden Wood & 1 at Ogden
  • grey wagtail - 1 on Ogden
  • great spotted woodpecker - 1 at Ogden & 1 at Calf Hey

Hi All,

After meeting a very cold Kevin I carried on round Holden Wood, all I can add is a flock of Lapwing {15} flying round, also around the construction site at the dam there was at least 10 House Sparrows feeding on the ground.

Maths never was my strong point but just to correct my report there were 12 on the bank and 4 on the water so 16 in total.
