10:00-12:00

Cormorant, 11 on Ogden including the white headed bird and 1 on Holden Wood,

Canada Goose, pair on pasture near Ogden,

Goldeneye, female on Calf Hey,

Goosander, pair flew on Ogden, probably off Calf Hey,

Sparrowhawk, female at road end,

Lapwing, 33 at Holden Wood,

Oystercatcher, pair on pasture at Ogden,

Curlew, 1 on bank at Ogden,

G.B.B.Gull, 2 immatures at Ogden,

L.B.B.Gull, c12 nort east,

B.H.Gull, c20,

Wood Pigeon, c30 in small groups,

G.S.Woodpecker, 1 at Heap Clough,

Pied Wagtail, 1 in outflow at Calf Hey,

Grey Wagtail, 2 in outflow at Calf Hey,

Mistle Thrush, pair at Ogden,

Coal Tit, c12, many in song,

Blue Tit, c30, good numbers about,

Great Tit, c20, good numbers about,

Nuthatch, 1 at Calf Hey feeding station,

Raven, 1 over,

Starling, c12 with Lapwings at Holden Wood,

Goldfinch, c12,

Greenfinch, 4,

Redpoll, 1 on feeders at Heap Clough,

Siskin, 8 on feeders at Heap Clough, flock of c12 at Calf Hey plus many calling singles,

Hi Dave

I was up at Grane today for the WEBS count and can add the following

  • grey heron - 1 at Ogden and 1 at Calf Hey
  • Canada goose - 6 at Holden Wood and 2pr on Ogden
  • mallard - 2pr and 2 males at Troy Quarry (none seen on any of the reservoirs)
  • teal - 3pr on Calf Hey and 2pr at Jamestone Quarry
  • goldeneye - female at Jamestone Quarry(probably the same bird that you saw at Calf Hey as I didn't see it there)
  • woodcock - 1 at Holden Wood and 1 at Jamestone Quarry
  • black headed gull - 45 on Holden Wood
  • skylark - flock of 4 at Holden Wood
  • great spotted woodpecker - female at Calf Hey and 1 at Ogden
  • meadow pipit - 1 at Hutch Bank
  • song thrush - 2 at Troy Wood
  • redwing - flock of 8 over Grane road near the bypass bridge
  • nuthatch - 1pr at Calf Hey
