Hi Craggy,

Whoever turns up are then divided into 2-3 teams, depending on numbers and we trawl Rossendale trying to get as many species on our list as possible. I have been to one Spring birdrace and one winter bird race - the latter was much better weather than the former. It is fun even if most of us do feel half asleep.

Ian - where will we go on Monday? Any ideas?

How is it you notice the mistakes when you read it back not when you are writing it?
Good answer Sarfraz - no we are not racing pigeons!
Any suggestions for Monday welcome - Reddisher Woods? Depends on the weather.
Cheers
Ian

Where is Reddisher?

Would be nice to go somewhere to see any chance of getting Wood Warbler, Spotted Flycatcher or any rare migrant .

Hi All,

Unfortunately no Wood Warbler or Spotted flycatcher yet this year, last five year average date has been 10th May and 24th May, but who knows what will happen this year. I will keep an eye out this weekend.

There is a pair of Grey Wagtails and a juvenile Kingfisher on the river, and I have heard but not yet located a Garden Warbler near last years nest site, Nest box activity is still very poor.

Hi Brian

Spotted Flycatchers have started coming in to the North West over the last few days. As for Wood Warblers - I dont think any have been posted on the ELOC forum yet. When you say nestbox activity do you mean resident breeding birds?

I am very likely to be coming tomorrow. I have lost your numbers so please could any one text me about 6am if I am not there. If I don't reply in 10 minutes it would mean I wont be coming although I do intend to be there.
