Hi David,

Glad you have seen the Garden Warbler, I have heard it but not seen it yet.

I do not normally do birds to order but because its Sarfraz, I have relented,

Besides the Spotted Flycatcher at Alderbottom there are three other individuals along th river at Strongstry, also good Kingfisher, Grey Wagtail, activity and nesting Sand Martins.

Tried very hard to find a Wood Warbler but failed.

Hi David

I think I must have been following you yesterday (but not seeing half as many birds)! I can add green woodpecker  at Irwell Vale and a couple of Whitethroats between Ewood Bridge and Rawtenstall, plus one near the centre of Edenfield c799188.

There do seem to be more Whitethroats around this year - I have had singing birds at 5 locations between Groundwork and Ewood Bridge so far and at another new site (for me) above Goodshaw Fold.

I also drew a blank on Cowpe Moss - no golden plovers again and no dunlins (although a trilling bird was present last week). In fact I didn't record any waders between the lapwings on Dearden Moor and a couple of snipe (one chipping) on Stubylee Moss.

Andy

@ Brian, I was joking about the Wood Warbler.  Of course I would love to see them but sadly it appears as if none have been reported in the ELOC area..YET.  If I could order a bird to see this summer it would have to be a Cuckoo.  Heard plenty but never seen.  Lets see how this year turns out.

@ Andy , more Whitethroats?  For some strange reason I feel that especially on the ELOC forum less have been posted.  Good to see they are doing well here.
