I started about 9am I think and I had:-

On Holden Wood:-

A bird I have not seen at the res since 1997 - Mute Swan - 4 of them - 2 adult and 2 young which - must have arrived just after you left!

55 Teal which flew off to Calf Hey where Kevin got even a better number
60 Mallards min

Lapwing in excess of 150 - I met a birder from Bacup who used to count at Guernsey and he said there were over 200 Lapwing. I forgot your name sorry.

1 Meadow Pipit at Holden Wood

2 Stonechat

Ogden;-

Ravens
some Mallard

Calf hey:-

3 Stonechat in southern side newly planted trees
Woodcock flew across - see by me Kevin and Andy Swift

Fairy Glen:-

1 Green woodpecker
1 g s woodpecker
plenty of goldcrest
8 field fare - 2 which flew east

Grane Road itself from Calf hey to Holden Wood:-

1 herring gull over
2 pied wags and 4 meadow pipits

I had the pleasure of meeting a birder from Bacup whose name I forgot - hope to see you on 18th, Jim Rostron in the woods above Calf Hey and Kevin and Andy.  It was really nice talking to you all.

The autumn colours were showing spectacularly today.
