We went to Calf Hey specifically to search for Treecreepers as I'd never seen one before.

We went to the Bird Hide but it was fairly quiet as the feeders were empty and only an odd Blue Tit and Great Tit were present.

Coming along the track through the trees below the car park we started hearing Goldcrests and Tits. A G.S.W called and landed in a tree next to us and then a Nuthatch appeared and started walking down a moss covered tree trunk. All the woodland species except the elusive Treecreeper and then finally one appeared on a small tree and started to climb up it like a tiny mouse; great!

All birds seen were:

Teal, 9 in the in feed of Ogden,

Kestrel, 1 hunting over rough grassland,

B.H.Gull, 6 on the res,

Grey Wagtail, 1 on the stream at the bottom of Fairy Glen,

Regards,

Jack Nuttall

Well done Jack they can be devils to spot but if you listen you can often hear them.
Did you show it to your Dad?
