Believe it or not it seemed quite spring like first thing with Dunnocks singing and Collared Doves cooing away then the rain arrived but the following were still seen:

Peregrine, male over Marl Pits,

Kestrel, 1 over Edge Cote,

Snipe, 18 flushed off Edge Cote,

B.H.Gull, c20 on saturated pasture,

Common Gull, c20 with Black Heads,

Stock Dove, pair on Chapel Hill,

Collared Dove, 2 pairs,

Dunnock, 2 singing birds,

Mistle Thrush, 2 pairs,

Blackbird, c12 birds mainly males,

Coal Tit, calling bird in Balladen Clough and another on Chapel Hill,

Long Tailed Tit, 2 flocks,

Starling, c12 on Edge Lane,

House Sparrow, c6 at Waingate Village,

Goldfinch, charm of 5.

All the best for 2014 to everyone,

Regards,

David Nuttall.
