Canada Goose, c20 in pairs / small groups,

Mallard, c12,

Buzzard, soaring to the east,

Red Grouse, 3 singles,

Pheasant, c6 calling birds,

Moorhen, 1 at Irwell Vale,

Golden Plover, a flock of 8 and c5 singles on the moss,

Lapwing, 2/3 pairs,

Curlew, 2 pairs,

Jack Snipe, 1 flushed off the tops,

Snipe, 3 flushed off the tops,

Herring Gull, c12 over,

L.B.B.Gull, c6 over,

B.H.Gull, c30 at EBSW,

Wood Pigeon, c20 in small groups,

Stock Dove, 3 in Alden & 1 at Irwell Vale,

Collared Dove, 4 at Irwell Vale,

Green Woodpecker, calling from Ravenshore / Snig Hole,

G.S.Woodpecker, drumming at Sunnybank,

Nuthatch, 3 at Sunnybank & 1 in Snig Hole,

Skylark, c40, many in song, good numbers back now,

Meadow Pipit, c50 with many in display,

Pied Wagtail, c4 pairs,

Ring Ouzel, up to 6 males in total (single, 3 & 2) all in or around Alden Valley and all calling,

Mistle Thrush, pair at Ewood Bridge plus 2 singing birds,

Song Thrush, c6 singing birds,

Dipper, 2 singles on the Irwell,

Chiffchaff, 1 singing at Sunnybank and 1 singing at Rawtenstall at 07:20 when i set off,

Coal Tit, 2 singing,

Jay, pair in Snig Hole,

Starling, c12 at Irwell Vale,

House Sparrow, c10 at Ravenshore,

Lesser Redpoll, 2 up the Irwell Valley,

Chaffinch, c40 many in song,

Greenfinch, c12 with many in song,

Goldfinch, c12 with many in song,

Reed Bunting, c8 with several in song.

Hi Dave

I can't add a lot to what you saw after I saw you other than a kingfisher on the river at EBSW and a woodcock flying under the bridge over the river at Manchester Road, Ewood Bridge
